We took a family vacation in March during Andrew's spring break. We learned that the type of vacations where you go sightseeing for hours on end, relax in the hotel, and do whatever whenever you want are not the same type of vacations that include kids. At the end of the vacation we went home and took a much needed day to relax from the vacation. Traveling with two babies is a handful. I think the girls had fun, and Andrew and I had fun so all in all it was a good trip.
We drove down to San Diego California in the morning and we got there in the late afternoon. We bid on priceline for our hotel the day before and we were super happy for the awesome hotel we got since all the pictures looked way nice. When we got there we realized this was not really a family hotel. It was geared more toward the single adult life. There was a DJ in the lobby, the snack tray available for purchase had a lot more than just cookies and chips. Lets just say it was full of a lot of things for a "good night". haha The shower had a glass door, well half door that didn't move. Everytime we took a shower it was a huge water mess! Oh, and there was no bath tub... Two babies who take a bath every night as part of their nightly routine and NO bath tub! We lucked out because our girls are small and the sing was HUGE! So at 9 months old they took a bath in the sink :) We got two cribs from the Hotel. I'm pretty sure we were one of the only rooms with cribs (did you know you most hotels have cribs you can request? Awesome, right!). The hotel was really nice and it was fun.
The first night we walked around little Italy in Downtown. The girls love to people watch and it was nice to stretch our legs after the long drive. The next day we went to Coronado Beach. We spent most of the day playing on the beach. It was warm enough we played in the water too.

Emma really did like the sun glasses until we tried to take her picture. Such a cute little pouty face! |
Did I mention how our girls are poller opposites? Well they are. In every single way possible! We guessed one was going to love the beach and one wasn't. And we were right! Emma loved it! She couldn't get enough of the sand. Adelyn on the other hand, she did not like it one bit! She wanted nothing to do with the sand and screamed every time we tried to sit her down on it. She wouldn't even put her feet in the ocean because she knew at the bottom was sand. Little stinker!

Adelyn is the one crying in case you couldn't guess |

Emma pretty much thinks its the best thing ever! |

Still playing in the sand. |

I buried her a little and she thought it was great. Thats when she learned she could pick it up. |
 |
It wasn't long after she figured out she could pick it up that she started eating it! |

Yummy sand |

Adelyn still chilling on daddys lap avoiding the sand. |

We eventually put Adelyn in the stroller and she was happy to just watch everyone else play in the sand. |

They are learning to stand up on their own. |
 |
She's a little cutie! She climbed all over daddy while he took a nap. She used his belly as a drum for a good 15 min while he tried to sleep :) |
After playing in the sand we went to the ocean. The girls played so hard (Emma) and Adelyn stressed so much about touching the sand that they wore them selves out! They both fell asleep on our chests.
Here are some pictures of Andrew and Adelyn, and Me and Emma.
Side note: We don't beat Emma. Thats not a welt on her back. She has a hemangioma on her back. The Dr. says it'll go away on its own in a few years. She has a smaller one by her belly button in the shape of a heart. It's pretty cute.

Me and my sleepy babies. So sweet. |

The girls were pretty tired after the day at the beach. They both fell asleep in the car on our way to the board walk. Sleeping babies are so sweet! |
Walking down the board walk at sunset
The next day we did my favorite activity of the whole trip. We rented bikes with baby seats and rode them down the board walk and the little town by the beach. The girls took a little time to warm up to it, but they had a lot of fun!

After the bike ride we loaded back into the car and drove home. It was so nice to get home and relax. With two babies it is so much easier to stay home where their cribs are and all their toys. It was SO MUCH fun for a few days to vacation and take our cute girls out and about around California.
