2012 Holidays Part 1

We were lucky enough to be able to spend the holidays with our families in Utah. We went up to St. George for Thanksgiving and spent the holiday with my family. We had the big dinner at my parents house with my parents, all my siblings, and nieces & nephews. My brother Nick announced that him and his wife Morgan are expecting their first baby! I am excited for Emma and Adelyn to have more cousins to play with on the Wilson side. Emma and Adelyn are grandchild # 5&6 on the wilson side and # 20&21 on Andrew's side of the family. Baby boy wilson is due to make HIS arrival the middle of July. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the girls first Thanksgiving. They were 5 1/2 months. After Thanksgiving Andrew had 2 weeks of Finals so I stayed in St. George with Emma and Addie so I could get some help with the babies while Andrew went back to Vegas to finish up his semester. A few days after Thanksgiving my Grandma passed away so I took the girls up to northern Utah for her funeral with my parents. It was a beautiful funeral. My dad and two of his sisters sang a song for their mom.

Since the girls are preemies I was terrified of them getting sick. I am sure I offended some people this past winter and I am sorry if I offended you but I had to do what I had to do to keep my girls as healthy as possible. After spending the first month of their lives in the NICU I was determined to not end up there again. I am so happy to say that I made it through the winter with the girls catching only a few minor colds and a few ear aches. Before Andrew finished finals the girls both caught a cold. Emma seemed to get over it alright, but Addie had a hard time with it. Having sick babies is such a guessing game. I was scared of waiting too long before having the girls checked out when they were sick, but I didn't want to be the panicked mom who goes to the ER every time her kid sneezes. I ended up taking Adelyn to the ER in St. George one weekend because she had a bad cold and I was worried about her ears and breathing. Here are some pictures from her first trip to the ER.

This is the first time Emma fell asleep without being cuddled or swaddled. She was sick and so tired. She fell asleep in the middle of playing with her zebra toy.

The ER visit turned out to be ok. Adelyn only had a cold and fluid in her ears... Oh the guessing games of sick babies. Once Andrew finished finals he came back up to St. George. We packed up all of our stuff and the two girls and we drove up to Salt Lake to spend a few weeks with Andrews family.

We met their new cousin Sara. She was born in November and Emma (on the left) & Addie (on the right) are 5 months older than her. My poor little girls are so little!

Adelyn fell asleep on Andrews lap. This was one of the first times she fell asleep not swaddled. I love these two so much!

The girls were 6 months and not mobile yet. I could set them down anywhere and they would be there when I got back. I was super surprised one day when I set Adelyn in her car seat while I ran upstairs real quick to grab my bag and when I got back I found her like this! This was the end of being able to take my eyes off of the girls for a second. I leave them alone for one minute and they roll out of things and roll around the ground to where they want to go.

She's mobile!... well kind of.

Catching Up on Fall 2012

I am about as good at blogging as I am at keeping a journal... not very good. It has been 5 months since my last post! I'm going to use the twin excuse here. Life is BUSY with two little babies! Unfortunately  there are A LOT of things that happened in the past 5 months. I'll try to remember as much as I can without rambling on too long. When talking to other twin moms they say the first year or two fly by in a blur. I didn't know how true this would be. Looking back at old post I read about things I had totally forgotten about. It's been less than a year, but already I am forgetting so much, so more than ever I want to write everything down so I don't forget it. Speaking of forgetting about things here are some cute pictures. I have no idea what is going on in them or what was so special that I decided to take a picture of it, but I did. I can tell by looking at the girls that these pictures were taken last fall sometime before the holidays. (See why I need to blog! I had a bad memory before the twins were born). 

This picture makes me smile :) Adelyn (in the stripes) looks like a cabbage patch doll and Emma is so happy! I sure do love these girls!

Big mile stone here! Emma holding her bottle. My quality of life  improved SOOO much once the girls learned how to hold their own bottles. Also, I didn't have to feel guilty for propping their bottles up when they ate as I mentioned in earlier post. 

Well, that's all I have for updates in the Fall before the holidays. My next post will have the stories I can remember from our 2 month stay in Utah over the holidays.

Fall 2012

The girls are growing up so fast! It is fun to see them grown and learn every day. I also love to see how different they are! Adelyn is my little mover. She rolls both directions now, and she has learned how to scoot backwards. She tries to crawl while she sticks her bum high high in the air, but she can't figure out how to get her arms to move in accordance with her legs to make her move. I am terrified for when she figures out how to make her arms move in conjunction with her legs. That little girl is going to be mobile soon and it scares me to death! Sweet little Emma doesn't seem to see the need for all the movement. She is content to just hang out and play with the toys I give her. She is a kicker and is constantly kicking her legs a million miles an hour. Once she figures out she can move herself there is going to be no stopping her and I am afraid I wont be able to keep up with her. Emma is my talker. She is constantly talking and cooing to anyone who will listen and a lot of times to herself. She wakes up in the morning (6am ish) and Andrew and I will hear her over the monitor just talking to herself and cooing.  They are such a joy. We absolutely love those little girls! Andrew and I have so much fun playing with them and watching them learn. Here are some pictures to show you what we've been up to this fall so far.

Emma - Don't you just want to pinch those cheeks! When she smiles she pokes her cheeks out and scrunches her nose... SO CUTE! We call her cheeser since she has such a cheesy smile.

Going to the Park

The weather has finally cooled down in Vegas so the girls and I can go play outside. I took the girls to the park for the first time a few weeks ago and it was an adventure. Adelyn loved it, Emma cried. They are truly polar opposites. I don't know how they are twins.

Happy Halloween!

Andrew had school on Halloween so the girls and I played at home (aka I dressed them up in their halloween clothes, not to be mistaken with their halloween costumes). After Andrew got home we dressed the girls up in their costumes. They were baby chics this year. The costumes turned out to be a HUGE mess! We had feathers all over our house in every room. I am still cleaning up feathers. We took the girls trick or treating to our friends who live a few doors down and then we went downtown to a party at the Town Square Mall. We strolled the girls around and people watched but we opted out of trick or treating at all the shops. It was a great first Halloween. Maybe next year Andrew and I can find time to dress up as well.

Last week we started the girls on some real food. It's fun feeding them and watching them try and figure out how to eat.

Since the weather has cooled down we like to go for stroller rides. The girls absolutely love it!

Did I mention we got a new car a few months ago? Both our cars were mid size and we couldn't fit both car seats and tall Andrew in our cars so we upgraded. I LOVE it!
